Breast Cancer Abstracting Boot Camp
About Course
Start with normal breast function, ducts, lobules, and regional lymph nodes. Learn how breast cancer begins and spreads, current incidence, risk factors, symptoms, imaging, biopsy, biomarkers, and treatment concepts before using registry codes.
Build a 2026 breast abstract in the order an abstractor works: primary site and laterality, multiple primaries and histology, grade and ER/PR/HER2, EOD, Summary Stage and AJCC, surgery, radiation, and systemic therapy. Interactive checks and scored reviews appear throughout.
Finish with a text-abstraction guide, five full fictional patient records with 39 detailed source reports, an interactive 36-field coding and seven-text-entry worksheet for each case, a cumulative 28-question exam, and a five-question course review. Verify exact coding against the diagnosis-year SEER, STORE, Solid Tumor Rules, SEER*RSA, Grade/SSDI, and AJCC resources. Designed for learners new to breast cancer and registry work.
