About Course

Lymphoma Abstracting Boot Camp

Build a traceable lymphoma abstract from the diagnostic chart. Ten modules cover lymphatic anatomy, reportability, histology and the SEER Heme Database, multiple primaries, primary site, EOD and Summary Stage, first-course treatment, SSDIs and grade, and five full-record practice abstracts.

Follow fictional linked pathology, imaging, specialist, and treatment records. Each teaching module pairs source-based decisions and a scored review with a short, unscored feedback form. Finish with a separate course summary, 20-question cumulative exam, and course review.

Use the diagnosis-year SEER Hematopoietic and Lymphoid Neoplasm Coding Manual and Database, 2026 Lymphoma EOD schema, and your reporting program requirements for final coding. All patient records are fictional.

Course Content

Module 1: Lymphatic System and Lymphoma Foundations
Locate lymphatic structures and node regions, distinguish nodal from extranodal documentation, recognize the major lymphoma families, and organize the diagnostic source trail before coding. Short lessons include chart-based decisions and a review quiz.

  • Lesson 1: Lymphatic Anatomy for the Abstractor
  • Lymphoma in Plain Language: Causes, Frequency, Symptoms, and Diagnosis
  • Lesson 2: Lymph Node Regions and Disease Map
  • Lesson 3: Lymphoma Families and Final Pathology
  • Lesson 4: Diagnostic Workup and Source Trail
  • Module 1 Summary and Source-to-Chart Practice
  • Module 1 Review Quiz: Lymphoma Foundations
  • Module 1 Feedback: Lymphoma Foundations

Module 2: Reportability and Diagnostic Evidence
Decide what enters the registry from a lymphoma workup. Apply the 2026 hematopoietic reportability instructions to imaging language, pathology, ambiguous cytology, clinical diagnoses, negative follow-up, and treatment evidence. Practice recording the exact dated source and uncertainty.

Module 3: Lymphoma Histology and Heme Database Workflow
Use the diagnosis-year SEER Heme Database and 2026 histology instructions to move from preliminary wording to a documented lymphoma entity. Practice reading final pathology and addenda, handling ambiguous subtype language, and recording the source behind the chosen morphology.

Module 4: Lymphoma Multiple-Primary Decisions
Apply the 2026 SEER Hematopoietic and Lymphoid Neoplasm Coding Manual M rules in order. Compare same histology, composite biopsies, separate specimens, transformation timing, and NOS-to-specific diagnoses with concise chart timelines and a decision quiz.

Module 5: Lymphoma Primary-Site Coding
Use the diagnosis-year SEER Heme Database and 2026 Hematopoietic Manual PH rules to distinguish nodal, extranodal, and bone marrow primary sites. Work through interactive evidence maps, reveal-the-rationale cases, and a scored review quiz.

Module 6: Lymphoma EOD and Summary Stage
Translate the 2026 lymphoma staging workup into SEER EOD Primary Tumor and Summary Stage 2018. Practice choosing the correct schema, mapping nodal and extranodal extent, recognizing marrow and spleen findings, and documenting a rule-based stage rationale through interactive cases and a quiz.

Module 7: Lymphoma First-Course Treatment
Abstract the documented first-course plan for lymphoma, including surveillance, diagnostic versus therapeutic surgery, systemic agents, radiation, and transplant. Practice tracing dates and treatment categories with original case timelines, revealable rationales, and a scored quiz.

Module 8: Lymphoma SSDIs, Grade, and Abstract Text
Capture the lymphoma data items that follow staging: grade applicability, B symptoms, physician-documented NCCN IPI, PTLD, and a clear source-based cancer story in text. Practice distinguishing absent, unknown, and not applicable through interactive chart snippets and a scored quiz.

Module 9: Lymphoma Practice Abstracts
Work five original, fictional patient records with linked pathology, imaging, specialist notes, and first-course treatment. Complete the abstract from the record, then reveal a source-based key and rationale for each case.

Module 10: Comprehensive Lymphoma Final Exam and Course Wrap-up
Review the complete lymphoma abstraction workflow, take a 20-question cumulative final exam, and share separate feedback about the learning experience so we can improve this Boot Camp.
